What qualifies SCORE members to give business advice

The key qualification SCORE counselors bring to clients is real-world,hands-on experience.  SCORE business counselors have general management and specific industry experience that can benefit your business. SCORE business counselors are typically retired business owners, business executives or operations managers.

What kind of counseling SCORE provides

SCORE counselors provide general business advice on just about everything including how to write a business plan, start a business, operate a business, buy a business or franchise and sell a business.

Note that while SCORE members act as counselors and coaches and often review and comment on business plans and similar documents, SCORE members do not prepare documents or give professional advice, such as people might receive from an attorney or CPA.  That is the responsibility of the professionals in those fields.  In fact, SCORE generally anticipates that at some point in the process, all start-up clients will have a need of such services, and clients are encouraged to seek out such help.

How you receive SCORE counseling

You can receive SCORE counseling simply by calling (816) 235-6675, by visiting the SCORE Business Resource Center or by submitting an E-mail counseling request form by clicking here.
